before sunrise.... part 3?!

Eeeks. Just read the best movie news ever: according to NYMag there will be a third Before Sunrise film!! The first two movies, Before Sunrise and Before Sunset were so magical, I'm antsy to know what finally happened to Celine and Jesse! Have you seen the films before? It's one of my favorite (unconventional) love stories, next to When Harry Met Sally of course.

My favorite scene in Before Sunrise is the telephone scene. So sweet and brave and absolutely endearing, and one of many fantastic (and romantic) scenes.

Before Sunset was just as magical, but it made me a little sad to see them become so adult, 9 years later. Reality really set in. Good thing the chemistry was still there! Aah, I can't wait to stay tuned for what's next!

turkey weekend

Sighhh. I'm writing from Philly after yet another amazing home cooked Chinese meal. Life is good. How was your Thanksgiving? I had an awesome American/Chinese feast with cute "Turkey cupcakes", then later burned it all off while waiting in line for 2 hours with my Dad at my first Black Friday experience: midnight opening at Best Buy, which was INSANE. (Seriously, never again.) But we ended up with a Toshiba laptop for my little sister (pictured below) for $300, so it was a successful night. Instagram-ed photos below.

I also drank lots of home squeezed pomegranate juice. My Dad is in love with his juicer/mixer, so I have tried just about every juice combination on the planet. (Wheat grass + Pineapple + Kiwi? Yep, done that.)

lounge in style

It's Thanksgiving week! For many of us lucky ones, that means relaxing at home and feasting on the most delicious food with loved ones. That's where these cozy bralets, sweatshirts, and sweatpants from byLangely might come in handy. While you're oh so stylishly lounging with a very full stomach, it'll be hard not to feel thankful. Until Thursday! xoxo

6 mini creative projects

Woohoo, it's Friday and I'm so relieved. I've been struggling to get over a terrible cough, so I'm hoping to lay low and make this weekend about rest & creativity. All I want to do is clean my apartment, clear my head, and dream up fun, creative projects to take on. (Painting? Knitting? DIY decor-making? Who knows?) Have any creative to-do's on your plate? (They can be super simple, like taking a walk & collecting some pretty leaves.) Here are a few creatively inspiring things from around the web...

1. Make your own art with a thrift store painting, tape, and white paint!

2. Dying to try this DIY stationary using vegetables!

3. So inspired by this Wataru Yoshida artwork via my friend's art blog

4.Can't wait to finish Mindy Kaling's hilarious book!

5. 35 ways to be more creative, a video.

6. Tea + this amazing Mr. Darcy inspired mug. Divine!

Have a good one xoxo

currently craving: chocolate!

I have consumed one and a half Cadbury chocolate bars this week. (I CAN'T stop!!!) I feel like I'm hungover on sugar. Too bad I can't resist my sweet tooth! Here's to sweet (& sometimes savory) cravings...

Croatian sweet walnut chocolate bread

Homemade nutella (grind up hazelnut, chocolate, etc)

Chocolate lava cake

Affogato, an Italian dessert of espresso poured over gelato

and Oreo truffles!

I think I'll have a bite of each, please! What are you craving?

wisdom corner

“
Loneliness is the human condition. Cultivate it. The way it tunnels into you allows your soul room to grow. Never expect to outgrow loneliness. Never hope to find people who will understand you, someone to fill that space. An intelligent, sensitive person is the exception, the very great exception. If you expect to find people who will understand you, you will grow murderous with disappointment. The best you'll ever do is to understand yourself, know what it is that you want, and not let the cattle stand in your way.”

my friend's going to iceland!

My friend Eunsan just booked a 4 day trip solo trip to Iceland -- and I am PSYCHED for her and super impressed. We were just talking about how life was getting a little too comfortable & predictable... My solution was more along the lines of getting a new hobby, but then Eunsun goes and books a plane ticket to ICELAND, all by herself! (So brave... I'm inspired.) Iceland sounds crazy rad, doesn't it? Kristina of Krisatomic, a favorite blogger/illustrator of mine, captured some great Iceland shots on her trip this past spring...

(all photos by krisatomic)

Kristina also compiled an Iceland inspiration post, which is so gorgeous... the mountains, greenery, and wilderness astound me! I am so excited for you Eunsun -- better bring your down coat & rain boots :)

new york black - are you ready for winter?

Brr, has it been c-c-cold this weekend! Now that daylight savings has arrived, we need to just embrace it: it's wintertime, ladies and gents. That means no more thin jackets and bare legs, unless you want to go for the freezing-chic look. Bring on the wool, knit, and thermal leggings! When it comes to my winter staples, I can't get enough sleek cut anythings and black, black, black. I'm a New Yorker, can't help it! Here's what you need to grab ASAP if you want to be a downtown cool kid/ my twin...

A sleek, military wool coat

I'm addicted to the lines of this coat. (Via Victoria's Secret, my sub for this Burberry stunner)

A chunky, knit cowl scarf

The chunkier, the better. Yes, I said it. (Via Etsy)

Minimalistic, leather boots

I would wear this to work every day. (Suede and leather boots via Zara)

Rain/snow boots

Better than duck boots, that's for sure. (Via Hunter)

Roomy, badass bag

Tough enough to take on the worst weather. (City Chic Bag via Anne Taylor)

After you're all done getting dressed, go outside and listen to Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black" on your iPhone 4s, and don't make eye contact with anyone. If you still don't feel like an extra from The Matrix, pull on these vintage black Ray Bans for good measure. See ya around the block!

a halloween history

Boo! Yes, it's me. Long time no see! Hope you had an incredible Halloween weekend -- did you dress up or go to any parties? I went out this weekend in two costumes: Morticia of the Addams Family (with a few friends as family members :) and Nicki Minaj. It was hilarious to "play" these characters and completely change personalities! So exhilarating!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays - I just love dressing up and seeing everyone else decked out! Last year, I was a cat (in black and stripes!) with crazy feathered eyelashes.

And in years prior, I was a pirate wench, with lots of (fake) tattoos...

... and a french maid, when I was a crazy college student in 2007. (Definitely not the classiest or most creative costume, but everyone needs to experience a totally stereotypical Halloween costume once!)

What's your favorite Halloween costume ever? I really liked being Nicki Minaj - it was my first time in a wig, and I felt magically transformed! :)

PS: Would you ever go as a cadaver like Heidi Klum this year? So creepy, but I have to applaud her courage (and imagination)!
